Performance

Both the processor are based on 14-nm LPP process technology. Talking about the CPU, Snapdragon 636 comes with high performing Kryo 260 cores which use four performing ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and four efficient ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. Whereas Snapdragon 625 comes with eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at a frequency of 2.0 GHz designed so to give long battery life.

Snapdragon 636 is powered with a Neural Processing Engine (NPE) helps developers determine where best to run their deep neural networks on a device for optimal performance and power consumption.

Snapdragon 636 comes with Adreno 509 GPU for better graphics and enhanced gaming performance for lifelike visuals and more efficient rendering of advanced 3D graphics whereas Snapdragon 625 comes with Adreno 506 GPU for PC-class graphics with support for advanced APIs and Hardware Tessellation.

Both are powered with Hexagon DSP designed to provide battery-efficient enhancements to audio and video.

Charging Technology

Snapdragon 636 is powered with Qualcomm Quick Charge Technology 4.0 which is 20% faster and, 30% more efficient than Qualcomm Quick Charge Technology 3.0, it can charge your device from 0 to 50% in about 15 minutes, Whereas Snapdragon 625 comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge Technology 3.0  which is up to four times as fast as conventional charging and is 38% more efficient than Quick Charge 2.0. Spend less time charging and more time doing.

 

Connectivity and Downloading

Snapdragon 636 comes with X12 LTE modem with LTE downlink speeds up to 2X faster than the prior generation, the Snapdragon X12 modem is designed to quickly download a favorite TV show or an entire album worth of songs in many locations with great consistency.\ and Snapdragon 625 comes with X9 LTE modem which supports up to 3x the LTE upload speeds of most LTE devices – up to 150 Mbps, and advanced Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO – for super-fast sharing of high res photos and videos.

Snapdragon 636 supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Snapdragon 625 supports Bluetooth 4.1 technology.



Camera

Snapdragon 636 comes with Qualcomm Spectra 16 image processor for deep mapping and improved portrait photography and stabilization whereas Snapdragon 625 comes with 2x Image Signal Processor (ISP). Both the processor supports up to 24 MP single camera and premium 4K video capture.

Both support up to 4k Ultra -HD video playback.

Conclusion

By studying the stats and doing various performance tests on both the processors, it is clear that Snapdragon 636 is much better than Snapdragon 625 in all aspects. For good gaming and multi-tasking experience, you should go for Snapdragon 636 powered Smartphone in the mid-range set of smartphones.
